Homestead is a middle sized city found in South Florida in Miami-Dade County. Homestead is considered a suburb of Miami, which is the region’s major urban area. Founded in the late 1800s and incorporated in 1913, Homestead is one of South Florida’s older cities. It was built on an agricultural foundation and is still considered to be a major farming area. Homestead is located near two national parks—both Biscayne National Park and the Everglades National Park.
