    Pacific University is an environmentally conscious school in Forest Grove, the ‘burbs of Portland. It was founded around the time of the Gold Rush by the United Church of Christ, although it is no longer officially affiliated with the Church. Many of the buildings on Pacific’s campus are LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), and the school is expanding its campus size and its green initiatives.

    At Pacific University, nearly two-thirds of students (63%) choose to live on campus, but a sizeable minority have found some sweet nests of their own. Though Forest Grove is a small town, it offers more rental options than you may think. There’s a wealth of apartment homes in the small towns nearby, and many, many listings in Portland, the largest city in Oregon. You can find anything from small studios to spacious 3-bedrooms.     Small-Town-Kind of Life

    In line with Pacific’s efforts in community and environmental awareness, the town of Forest Grove is a very tight-knit and friendly neighborhood where residents are eco-friendly and welcome the initiatives put forth by the university. Some local hotspots include Maggie’s Buns, serving delicious salads and wraps with lots of breakfast options, and Pizza Schmizza which is pretty self-explanatory. If you’re looking for more nightlife and urban excitement, Portland is your best bet. Check out the Tri-Met bus system and the MAX light rail to get there without a car!
