About Albany, NY

The city of Albany is found in upstate New York, and has remained the city’s capital for hundreds of years. The city was chartered in the late 1600s, and although it remained one of the nation’s most populous cities through the early 1800s, today it is simply a middle-sized US city. It is dwarfed in size for example, by its southern brethren in New York City, which many consider to be the media and economic capital of the country, albeit unofficially. As of 2010, Albany had a population of nearly 100,000.
