About Athens, GA

Home of the University of Georgia Bulldogs, Athfest, and the Twilight Criterium bike race, Athens makes for an exciting place to rent an apartment. If you like people watching, outdoor music, festivals, or a college town feel, then renting an apartment in Athens is definitely right for you. With a population of over 100,000, and with 12 neighborhoods, Athens is hardly a town. In fact, it is a county-city. As a result, this city has a lot to offer for any tastes; renting an apartment in Athens' Newtown neighborhood, for example, can be completely different than living in the Briarcliff area.

University Of Georgia On Your Mind

Founded in 1785, the the University of Georgia is one of the nation’s oldest public universities, and its first state-chartered university. As proof of its academic excellence, UGA produces a high number of students receiving prestigious academic awards, such as the Rhodes scholarship. That’s not to say they’re all work and no play, however--the school shows special dedication to its teams, the Bulldogs, with a special lineage of real bulldogs serving as mascots alongside “Hairy Dawg” (the more traditional guy-in-an-animal suit mascot).
