With a tight academic focus and excellent staff to student ratios, it is surprising that Lewis and Clark College is not more well known nationally. It offers a quality, niche education in the fields of arts and sciences, law and teaching/counseling.
Portland, or PDX for the tech-heads, is known alternately as the City of Roses, Stumptown, Bridgetown, Rip City and Little Beirut. It is famous for its love of mind-altering drinks - nothing illegal, but there are more coffee shops and microbreweries in Portland than in most other cities across the nation.
Portland is generally an extremely walkable city, with a walkability factor of 97 out of 100. However the area around Lewis and Clark University scores only 23 out of 100 for walkability, being somewhat away from the center of town.
