About Fair Oaks, CA

Originally started as a land buy from the Rancho San Juan Mexican land grant, Fair Oaks was a prosperous citrus growing area in its heyday, and also known as one of the Sunset Colonies. The industrial farming of citrus groves has ceased since the early 1900s, but the city itself still remains, and much of its population still has that small-town vibe and welcoming feeling of olden days. Now, it is more of a bedroom community of suburban and semi-rural neighborhoods outside of Sacramento.
