About Bermuda Dunes, CA

Bermuda Living, in California

Bermuda Dunes is in Riverside County, California in the Coachella Valley. It was developed in 1962 and is pretty much all about the golf course. There are loads of courses here and it was actually named after the Bermuda Dunes Country Club. The city is less than 10 miles from Palm Desert and about 20 miles to Palm Springs. If you like the heat, you will love it here. Average highs clock in at around 90 degrees but it can heat up to a whopping 120 in the summer. Whew! Thankfully most places have pools. This is the desert. Average lows fall around 60 degrees.

Watch out for those lizards, and here we go!

Golf, Golf, and More Golf

If you’re into golf, this is the place for you. There are plenty of courses to choose from as golf courses occupy an awful big part of this area of the desert. One of the standout clubs is the Bermuda Dunes Country Club. It has been a part of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic since it began, way back in 1960. This place has been played on by Clark Cable, Arnold Palmer (yup, the guy who invented that whole iced tea and lemonade combo), Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, and tons of other golfing big-wigs. The club is gorgeous, top-notch, and the perfect place to order an “Arnold Palmer” on a hot day.

Fun in the Sun

Check out the California Desert Nursery for unique desert and drought tolerant plants. These folks have been open since 1982, so they definitely have a handle on the whole growing plants-in-the-desert thing. From spacey to cartoon-like, these plants are simply awesome. This is the perfect place to deck out your new apartment’s balcony or patio. Just watch out for Seymour.

Loads of low costs and free fun family activities await you in Palm Desert. With the trip being a mere 10 miles away, it’s a great place to go for some desert fun. If you’re looking for a little culture or a rocking night out, go see a show at McCallum Theatre. From k.d. lang to My Fair Lady, keep your eye on their schedule for something that strikes your fancy. Take the whole family to check out a real gem in the middle of the desert. Ride a camel, check out the Ant Lab, watch giraffes eat, gaze at model trains, and experience desert animals in their natural settings at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. This place is truly special and you will want to visit again and again. The new Palm Desert Aquatic Center is 8 acres of insanity. Insanity is the best way possible. Three pools, diving boards, slides, and an amazing sprinkler park play area that will make you wish you were a kid again. (Feel free to run through. It’s really hard not to.) The center is run by the YMCA of the Desert so they offer a wide variety of classes (water aerobics), programs, and of course, free swim and fun. Swim team, water polo, spkash ball, toddle time, relays and more.

If you love the desert, golf, or are just looking for something near Palm Springs and Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes is a great place to be. With its dry, hot weather and unique landscaping, the desert offers a life quite different from everywhere else. And nothing beats a night swim in the desert under those bright, beaming stars. Happy apartment hunting!
