Ladd building was named after William Sargent Ladd, a founding father, former mayor, philanthropist and business leader of Portland, whose residence was once on our block. His 1883 Carriage House was recently renovated and shares the "Ladd Block" with us, along with the First Christian Church, which was recently restored to its 1923 grandeur.
