About Bowling Green, OH

  • Bowling Green State University

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Bowling Green State University's flare for the out-of-the-ordinary will be sure to add some sugar and spice to your college experience. Fun fact about Bowling Green State University: not only is the music building in the shape of a baby piano, but the recreation center looks like the school's falcon mascot from above. Talk about attention to detail. To add a little bit of razzle dazzle to your daily routine, here come the SIC crew. As if that weren't enough campus action, Bowling Green State University also offers students the opportunity to participate in a Learning Community, where they can take classes and live with classmates who share interests. Furthermore, Bowling Green State University is located near the bustling cities of Detroit and Cleveland. It also educated the babe in "On the Waterfront" and Hitchcock's "North by Northwest", who before her acting career took off was named Bowling Green’s Pi Kappa Alpha "Dream Girl." Way to use foresight, Bowling Green.

    E Z Living

Forget countless trips to Ikea; many apartment complexes in this area offer fully furnished unites, complete with desks for late-night cram sessions. Some of the swankier ones may have hottubs, basketball courts, gyms, and picnic tables. If you're not too keen about cooking for yourself but are nonetheless done with dorm food, tryi renting a place off Wooster Street, home to all your consumption needs, and, to boot, very close to campus. Merry Street and Main Street are also good bets for grub and close-to-campus living. And on Merry Street, you won't be too far from several of the school's fraternities and sororities. To get around you can take Bowling Green Transit, but it's bit steep ($3.50 each way). However, with good eats, entertainment, and campus just a walk away, you'll never have to go far.

    Bumming around in Bowling Green

Snook’s Dream Cars, a revamped gas station in 1940s style that showcases a car collection spanning from the 1930s to the 1960s, is probably one of the coolest places around. All the cars still run, so you may just be able to convince the owner to give you a ride 'round town. Stay on campus and check out the stars at the Bowling Green State University Planitarium. Have a sky-gazing party and invite up to 117 other buds; the BGSU has room for them. Get your game on at the Amazing Space Arcade. Then burn a few bucks at the Woodland Mall. When you want to take a break from the grind of modern living, camp out at one of Bowling Green's outdoor recreation areas, such as Fire Lake Camper Park or Buttonwood/Betty C. Black Recreation Area.
