About Decatur, GA

The city of Decatur is found in Illinois. The largest city in Macon County, Decatur is also the county seat. Decatur has numerous nicknames, including the “Soybean Capital of the World”. According to the 2010 census, the population in Decatur is nearly 76,000. But that number is down nearly 10,000 people from the 2000 census, indicating a migration of people out of the city. In fact, Decatur has lost almost 20% of its population in the twenty years between 1980 and 2010. The metropolitan area is still large, however, with a population of over 113,000 people.
