About Katy, TX


Named for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, which was commonly referred to as the K-T, Katy has a population of 12,000 people and is located outside Houston. Also playing into the name is Cane Creek, which runs through Katy and was the original name of the town. It was famous for sugar cane in the 19th Century and today has an annual festival in honor of the crop.
