Sitting in the heart of Newark, Delaware, UDel is the largest public university in the state with a campus the size of a whole city! UD’s mascot may be technically be a chicken, but the Blue Hens fight strong and compete in the NCAA Division I. Sit back and enjoy some of the concerts on campus or take a trip down Main St. There’s always something going on at UD, UDig?

    Off-Campus Housing at UDel

Dorms are great, but they do have an expiration date. By your junior or senior year of college, you no longer need the cramped spaces and pandemonium of on-campus housing, not that you ever did. Find something much nicer and more affordable than the student housing provided by UD. More than half of the student body lives off campus and just like them, you’ll find a wide selection of apartment complexes and rental homes in Newark. Many of the rental options will be within walking or biking distance to campus. However, if you’re having a lazy day, the bus system in Newark and on-campus is very reliable. UD even has its own shuttle bus that comes every 20 minutes. Time your trips well, so you don’t miss your classes!

    Mainly Main Street

In Newark, Main St. is home to most of the town’s restaurants, bars, and shops. What’s amazing about this set-up is that Main St. runs directly through the University of Delaware campus, so you have the whole city at your fingertips. Grab a drink with friends and visit Deer Park Tavern or Klondike Kate’s, which has been serving up drinks since 1737. Also check out Iron Hill Brewery, for rotating microbrew beer and all kinds of house-made food.
