About Sandy Springs, GA
North of neighboring Atlanta, near the banks of the Chattahoochee River, Sandy Springs is a fighter of a city. The community and the local government repeatedly held off attempts by Atlanta to annex the area, and were eventually able to get Sandy Springs city status. As a full-fledged city in its own right, both officially and unofficially, it is the third-largest city to incorporate in U.S. history. Residents are proud of this heritage, and it shines through in their community spirit.
